Course description and learning objectives

Student completing this course will be able to:
• Demonstrate safe experiment in laboratory.
• Measure physical properties of solid and liquid.
• Demonstrate titrimetric analysis.
• Analyze liquid sample using titrimetric methods.
• Operate UV-Vis spectrophotometer for quantitative analysis

Topics include

1. Introduction of lab safety and rules.
2. Determination of the density of solids and liquids, the molecular weight of vapor, and the true volume of the burette and pipette.
3. Acid-base titration
4. Determination of iron content in commercial supplement using permanganometry
5. Determination of water hardness using complexometry
6. Determination of chloride ion argentometry
7. Determination of dissolved oxygen content in commercial drink using iodometry
8. Determination of ascorbic acid content in commercial supplement using iodometry
9. Application of UV-Vis spectrophotometry in quantitative analysis
