• Cost diagram and quick screening of process alternatives
• Preliminary process optimization
• Cost data
2. Conceptual design and process simulation
• Input information and batch versus continuous
• Input-output structure of flow sheet
• Recycle structure of flow sheet
• Separation system
• Introduction to process simulation with demonstration of Aspen Plus
3. Technology of clean process and fluid physical property
• Inherent safety
• Clean process technology
• Heat-exchanger networks
